Exercise Instructions: Leg Extensions


Leg extensions is a great way to get that infamous pump in your quads. I usually do leg extensions as the very last exercise on my quads. If you also finish with a drop set, you will feel the burn in your muscles in a way you've never felt before. Amazing!


Leg Extensions - Starting Position

In order to do leg extensions you need a leg extension machine. Choose a weight, sit on the machine, with your feet pointing forward under the pad. You should hold on to the side bars. Make sure that the pad is on top of your legs, just above your feet.

Now, use your quadriceps to extend your legs to the maximum. It is important to keep your butt on to the seat and your back on to the back rest. Do not lift your butt from the seat!

The exercise is ended by lowering the weight back to the starting position.

Leg Extensions - Contracted Position
As you can see, this exercise is very easy to do. If you've never done it before, start on a light weight and work your way upwards. Make sure you have control and keep your body stationary while extending.

Some people do not recommend this exercise because it can create extra stress on the knees. I've never encountered knee issues with leg extensions, but your should stop doing it if you feel pain.
